The Piggeries, as its name suggests, was created from the original piggeries to form a 5 Stars Gold, luxury, self-catering holiday cottage for four in Lancashire. It offers superb self-catering holiday cottage accommodation in the Forest of Bowland, convenient for Blackpool and Lancaster, and within easy travelling of the Yorkshire Dales, Cumbria and the Lake District. With accommodation for four couples, it is ideal for small groups or extended families.
The view across to the Cumbrian coast and Lake District enjoyed by those bygone pigs was spectacular by day and magical at night, and remains no less so today. On New Year's Eve, fireworks can be seen for miles around from the comfort of an armchair by the wood-burning stove.
Lancashire Holiday Cottage Accommodation
This Lancashire self-catering holiday cottage possesses a very special charm and is feature rich.
This property underwent a major transformation in mid 2013 to form a large property with four en-suite bedrooms that can sleep up to eight or nine guests.
The kitchen is a delight to cook in and provides a great social area for guests. It has a huge, fully-fitted, hand-painted Mark Wilkinson kitchen, equipped with a green Aga, gas hob, oven, dishwasher, full-size fridge and freezer, granite worksurfaces, island unit, seating, and French doors leading into the garden.
An orangery-style dining room has been added, with a feature glass ceiling and large picture windows looking out into the garden. The dining table seats eight.
A few steps lead down into a huge new living room with a grand stone fireplace and a wood-burning stove. Large picture windows and French doors lead to the conservatory. Folding glass doors that can be opened fully provide access to the patio and private, landscaped garden areas.
There are two bedrooms on the ground floor of the original building. One is a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room. The other has twin beds (with the option to make these into a super-king-size bed) and an en-suite shower room.
In the new part of the building, accessed via three steps up from the hall, are two large bedrooms with full-length feature windows and opening doors with juliet balconies. There are amazing views across the countryside towards the coast. One bedroom is a double room with an en-suite bath and separate shower. The other is a large family room with one double bed, one single bed and an en-suite shower room.
