Home to the Grimaldi royal family and the famous Grand Prix, Monaco is a picturesque principality on the Mediteranean Cote D'Azur. Throughout the year, there are many events to draw visitors, ranging from ATP Tennis and motor racing to opera, ballet, art exhibitions and festivals. In December, the Christmas decorations and displays are particularly beautiful, with red carpets on the streets and snow clad Christmas trees.

Monaco boasts many famous sights. In the Casino Square in Monte Carlo, you will find the Hotel du Paris, the Casino and Café du Paris; many an hour can be spent here watching the beautiful people and the dazzling parade of luxurious motor cars. This is also where some of the famous designer shops - Cartier, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Hermes and Christian Dior - display their wares.

Set on the Rock is the Royal Palace. Here, the daily changing of the guard draws the crowds. Afterwards, you can explore the narrow streets and dine in one of the many restaurants. The impressive Oceanographic Museum is also well worth visiting. Other attractions include a small zoo, exotic gardens and the Prince's personal vintage motor car collection.

Monaco is a warren of narrow, steep streets with steps, lifts and escalators to ease exploration by foot. Its virtually non-existent crime rate makes it a very safe holiday destination.
