In the 15 years that we have lived here and the seven years that we have been renting out the holiday cottages, snow has visited us on just two occasions. Even then, it was only enough to cover the grass.
However this year, the snow started falling on 21 December, the main day for the Christmas arrivals. In all, we ended up with about six inches of snow which stayed for the next two and a half weeks!
The cottages and grounds just looked amazing, everywhere so pristine and white. A snowman appeared on the tennis court and various others of different shapes and sizes appeared all over the place. Our little girl Callie enjoyed sledging down the driveway with her big sister; her laughter and giggles were heartwarming.
It took a lot of hardwork (and hundreds of pounds!) to keep the driveways and the pathways gritted for the guests, even being out there on Christmas morning. But thankfully, everyone that came, had a wonderful time - one guest even wrote to me saying he would keep 'memories to last a lifetime'.
