The Barn at Scorton
A great place that continues to expand and improve every year. Probably the place that we eat at the most and is very popular with locals. The best place for coffee, scones, cakes and light snacks. Last summer the gardens have been expanded to incorporate a bbq area, so on fridays, saturdays and sundays you can eat al fresco outside or when the weather or chilly nights draw in then inside comes into use. Now you can also enjoy a glass of wine, champagne, sangria, pimms or beer with your food. Fish & homemade chips, big burgers, corn fed chicken, salads, specials, all local produce and reasonably priced. Wednesdays and Thursday evenings, 5 until 8pm is all you can eat pizza and pasta nights. Adults £8, children £4. www.plantsandgifts.co.uk

The Longridge Restaurant
Paul Heathcotes first restaurant and the only one where he still occasionally cooks. Was Michelin starred, but the chef Chris and his wife Cath left to run their own business, plus some other key members of staff, Paul had intended to sell the restaurant but managed to persuade Chris and Cath to return. Came here for sunday lunch just the other week. Was excellent value, just £22.50 for 4 courses. The food was fantastic. Lots of special offers on at lunchtime and evening at the moment to entice some of the old customers back. A special offer during the week, 3 courses including bottle of wine for 2 persons £50 a couple. Fantastic value. Many years ago a meal for 2 would cost well over £100. A definate favourite once again a real treat.. 01772 784969
