Fit For A Pig
Blimey, this place is a pigsty...no, really, it is a pigsty - now converted into a two-bedroom cottage that's well placed for historic Lancaster and walks in the Forest of Bowland.

Originally a farm,it has hens scratching about to give it that 'Good Life' feel, as does Baa, the pet sheep.

Bonus: sleep in the countryside, but make forays to Blackpool and the busier Lake District.

Drawback: long walk to nearest pub.

Book it: three-night breaks for four people from £270.
